Cinco de Mayo

Sorry it's been so long but I am back from vacation with a quick review and mani for you guys. Recently I met up with @iamdeliasnails in Los Angeles at Olvera St. where I found these amazing nail wraps by @chachacovers. They had everything from pin-up girls to Mexican wrestlers and everything in between, including these four sets that I purchased.

I thought that Cinco de Mayo would be the perfect opportunity to use the Mexican Beer Tasting wraps and my Moyra Vintage stamping plate from @cosette.nail.shop, here's what I came up with.

I sponged a little bit of Sinful Colors Nirvana over Sally Hansen Twiggy to create a background with a nice vintage look and stamped two images from Vintage in Mundo de Uñas Reddish, Light Grey and Charcoal then mattified with Sally Hansen Big Matte Topcoat. Like all Moyra plates, this one performed extremely well and all the stamps you see on my nails were done on the first try using my clear stamper, which as you know can be tricky with fine lines. These images were perfectly etched and came through crisp and clean. Check out the macro.

As for the wraps, WOW! This was my first time ever using any wrap or water slide decal type of product and I just have to say they performed amazingly and were so forgiving, which was incredibly important for my noob-ass trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. I have seen people in tut vids dissolving excess wrap with acetone but a word of warning, these wraps are so thick and opaque you won't be doing any of that here, just cut the wrap to fit your nail bed first and you will be a-okay. I even placed and removed this wrap a couple of times getting the placement just right and it still looks fantastic.

I will definitely be back for more @chachacovers and Moyra plates because as you know, I am a sucker for those unique and delightfully peculiar nail art items. This mani won't be coming off any time soon! Happy Cinco de Mayo, I hope you guys have a festive evening! I always try to do a bit of celebrating because this day makes me think happy thoughts of my time in San Diego, and as someone with a little Mexican in me I feel perfectly justified! I chose the Tecate label because it reminded me of the trips I used to take there to visit my family as kid. Hope you guys enjoyed the post.

  1. Great post Justine! Those nails wraps are intriguing. Because they were so thin, did you find any problems when you applied top coat of it dissolving some of the pattern? I find that sometimes happens with very thin water decals from bornprettystore (ha the only store I have decals from actually!). Great mani too! I wish I had infinite money because I would like some Moyra plates too *__*

    1. Actually these were quite thick! No dissolving at all and even when I removed them I peeled them off in one piece. They're kind of like cling film! Oh Moyra are so irresistible. I love the new Gastromania plate, oh lawd.
